Achieving a Megawatt Smile Gets Easier Every Day

The Best Alternative Ingredients For Toothpaste

If you are tired of using toothpaste to brush your teeth everyday and would like to try something different, you could consider trying some ingredients you may have at home. Here are several different ingredients you could try using instead of toothpaste, and each of these is safe for your teeth.

Baking soda

Baking soda is a safe alternative to toothpaste, but you should not use it every day due to its abrasive nature. You can, however, use it once or twice a week as an ingredient for brushing your teeth. To do so, just mix it with water to form a paste that you can place on your toothbrush. Baking soda is excellent for removing stains from teeth and deep cleaning them, but it may not leave you with fresh enough breath because it does not kill bacteria.

Coconut oil

A second good alternative to toothpaste is coconut oil, and coconut oil is completely safe for your teeth. You can use this daily, as it is not abrasive, and it will help you obtain a really clean mouth. To use it, simply place it on your toothbrush and brush. If you prefer, you do not even have to brush with it. Instead, you could place a teaspoon or two in your mouth and swish it around for 10 or 20 minutes. When you do this, it will kill bacteria in your mouth, leaving your mouth fresher and at a lower risk of developing cavities. A lot of people actually love the taste it offers too, but this depends on the person.

Hydrogen peroxide

The other ingredient you could try for this is hydrogen peroxide, and you can either brush with this or use it as a rinse. To do either, you should first dilute the peroxide with an equal part of water, as it is a really strong ingredient to use in your mouth. The benefit of this is that it kills bacteria, whitens teeth, and freshens your mouth. It is not something you should use daily, but you can use it several times a week without harming your teeth.

Using toothpaste is the most common product used for cleaning teeth, but you could try using these ingredients too, if you would like a deeper clean. If you have questions about your oral health or what type of toothpaste you should use, schedule an appointment for a dental cleaning with a dentist in your city.
